Job title: School administrator with HR Responsibilities

Welcome to Newbury School, a new provision right in the heart of the midlands Birmingham.

We are a co-educational independent school educating young people between the ages of 11-18. We offer hope and future focus to young people who have and who are struggling in the school system, whatever their background.

We aim to be the best independent alternative education for these young people by providing outstanding staff, teaching and learning.

We are looking for a School Administrator to provide administrative support as part of the Newbury School service team. To encourage young people to respect each other, their teachers and all other adults. To teach students to think positively, which in turn impacts their choices and behavior; to be independent and take responsibility for their acts.

As the school administrator tasks are:

1. Provide a friendly, professional and efficient first point of contact to all pupils, parents, staff, professionals and visitors contacting or visiting the school.

2. Ensure that the reception area, corridor and communal meeting rooms are tidy and present a positive image of the school to visitors.

3. Ensure that all marketing materials are available and up to date promoting the school brand and aims to the outside world including brochures, advertising, reports etc.

4. Maintain accurate and up to date communication systems with all stakeholders

5. Produce and distribute publicity materials for the school, including newsletters etc. as required and in liaison with the SLT.

6. Undertake all administration and organisation associated with whole school events (e.g. Christmas) open days and events involving external visitors to the school.

7. Initiate and respond to emails; prepare letters, reports, and other documents; maintain student records; and order school supplies.

8. Ensure safeguarding of pupils at all times, including maintaining the NIS Single Central Record.

We are looking for:

  • Understanding of the nature of administrative or secretarial work in an educational environment.
  • Possess a variety of skills and abilities, including good oral and written communication skills, proper telephone etiquette, strong organisation skills, a methodical work approach, the ability to work under pressure.
