We are a co-educational independent school educating young people between the ages of 11-19. We offer hope and future focus to young people who have and who are struggling in the school system, whatever their background.

We aim to be the best independent alternative education for these young people by providing outstanding staff, teaching and learning.

We are looking for a passionate and ambitious Teacher or Tutor with SEMH experience to provide support, guidance and an outstanding education experience to promote the welfare, independence and knowledge of our young people. Ideally you will have experience of teaching humanities, PSHE and/or Duke Of Ed.

1. Plan and teach lessons and sequences of lessons to the classes that are assigned to teach within the context of the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work. Also making use of IEPs and EHCPs to plan lessons.

2. Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned students.

3. Participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for external examinations

4. Setting and monitoring plans and activities for small groups and 1:1 sessions

5. Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices and procedures in such a way as to support the school’s values and vision.

6. Work with others on curriculum and/ or pupil development to secure coordinated outcomes

7. Ensuring that student needs are met by working hand in hand with the other members of the school and Parents/Carers to determine students’ needs and by adhering to the policies that are in place to meet those needs resulting in positive experience of learning for students

8. Promote the safety and well-being of students.

9. To monitor student attendance and punctuality on a weekly basis and to take all the appropriate steps to ensure that attendance and punctuality of students in the year group are at the highest levels.

10. Collaborate and work with colleagues and other relevant professionals within and beyond the school.

11. Organise and lead assemblies

12. To create a provision map to show SMSC and enrichment opportunities across the curriculum

13. To collect evidence for the different activities and events that take place across the curriculum

We are looking for:

  • An applicant who is passionate about the care and wellbeing of Young People.
  • An applicant with excellent communication and listening skills.
  • An applicant with the capacity to be a mentor and motivate young people.
  • An applicant who has a relevant degree and/or qualifications. (for e.g. QTS, QTLS, PGCE, B,Ed., PTLLS, DTLLS, CELTA)
  • An applicant with experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes
  • An applicant who can utilise own initiative and is flexible and on a journey for success

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Up to £30,000.00 per year
