Our private pre-school at Portsmouth High School is a leading independent nursery in Portsmouth, Hampshire, that welcomes children into a warm and inclusive environment that always puts their well-being first.
Set in the extensive grounds of our private Prep School in the heart of Southsea, Portsmouth, our pre-school is based in a light and modern building with access to a large wooded garden, a real oasis in an inner city environment, offering plenty of space for play and exploration.
Our pre-school teachers are highly qualified and get to know and understand each of the children in their care. The school offers an outstanding start for girls from the term of their third birthday (rising 3) up until they join the Reception Class.
You are warmly invited to visit us, meet Early Years teaching staff, and find out more about the opportunities available. Do Request a Prospectus and book a personal tour of the school. We are very much looking forward to meeting you and your daughter.

Does your daughter
love the great outdoors? We are excited to welcome you to discover more about
our Pre-School and Reception Classes, and what makes our school the ideal
environment for your daughter to flourish and grow.
This event is for
families looking to join the Pre-School and Reception Class. There will be
explorer activities for children to enjoy both inside and outside the
classroom.
Congratulations to all our pre-school children for
taking part in their very own sports day held in the grounds of the prep
school.
This yearâs sports day was themed around favourite nursery
rhymes. Parents, friends and staff watched and cheered as the children competed
in teams. Races included a Humpty Dumpty egg and spoon race, a Hey Diddle
Diddle jumping race and a real favourite was the Wee Willie Winkie dressing up
race which drew loud cheers from the crowd.
The sporting events finished with a very competitive parentsâ
egg and spoon race followed by the presentation of certificates and medals by
Headmaster of the Prep School, Mr Marshallsay, and Headmistress, Mrs Prescott.
Pre-School teacher
Mrs Nelson said âThe children put on a tremendous show today and I am so proud
of them all. It is wonderful to watch them trying new things and growing in
confidence as they progress through the pre-school.â
At our pre-school in Southsea your daughter will be introduced to academic subjects in ways that promote independence, curiosity, decision-making, cooperation, persistence, creativity and problem-solving. Skills for life, which will set her on the path for progression through our school and beyond. Indoor and outdoor activities give girls multi-sensory first-hand experiences that make learning fun and exciting, with Forest Schools music, ballet, PE and even French classes all on the menu for our pre-schoolers, alongside library classes to give them the joy of reading and books.
