What's Changing in September 2025
From September 2025, working families in England who earn the equivalent of at least 16 hours a week at minimum wage can claim 30 hours of free childcare per week for children aged 9 months to school age, during term time (38 weeks per year).
The universal 15 hours per week of free childcare will continue for all 3‑ and 4‑year‑olds, regardless of employment status or income.
Children aged 2 years from low-income families or with special educational needs will still be entitled to 15 hours of funded childcare.
