REVIEW POLICY

The Review Score for a nursery, schools, companies dealing with special needs education, nannies, child-minders, tutors, colleges & universities, sports establishments, camps, and companies working in the education sector is based on User Reviews. The review system is based on the star system. Maximum stars are 5 (which would be the highest score) and minimum is 1(which would be the lowest score). There are different parameters to review: care, learning, staff, management, safeguarding, facilities, resources, cleanliness, activities, food, and value for money.

  • 1 - 49 reviews – Shield with yellow star
  • 50 – 99 reviews – Shield with blue star
  • 100 – 499 reviews – Shield with turquoise star
  • 500 – 999 reviews – Shield with purple star
  • 1000 – 4999 reviews – Shield with red star
  • 5000+ reviews – Shield with a yellow shooting star

We receive 100% of Reviews through website submission.

We only accept/publish Reviews that are submitted by parents/individuals responsible for a child (cannot be submitted anonymously) and comply with our Content Standards (eg do not contain allegations of negligence, abuse or criminal activity).

Before publishing, we check that all reviews comply with our Review Policy and we show all reviews submitted to care providers so that they may submit a response to be published with the review.

The Reviews submitted to our site do not represent our views and we accept no responsibility or liability for any such Reviews.

Our website nurseriesandschools.org allows users and third parties to post comments and ratings of care providers experiences (“Reviews”). The primary purpose of these Reviews is to help potential parents to find the right nursery. The Reviews also provide parents with an opportunity to provide feedback to nurseries and for nurseries to use this feedback to make improvements.

The views, comments and opinions expressed in the Reviews submitted to our site do not represent our views and we accept no responsibility or liability for any such Reviews. All Reviews are left in accordance with our terms and conditions.

  • Publish Immediately. The Review will be published and email sent to reviewer and to the contacts of the care provider saying the Review is live.
  • Publish adding a response to the Review. The Review Team will verify the response to ensure they abide by the terms of the Review Policy and then the Review will be published with an email sent to the reviewer and to the contacts of the care provider saying the Review is live.

During the moderation process, your personal details may be used by us or passed on to the organisation you are reviewing in order to contact you for the purpose of verifying/responding to your review.

We reserve the right to edit and alter Reviews to ensure that the Review complies with our Review Policy. As a general rule, we will only edit Reviews to remove names from the content of the reviews and to correct spellings or basic grammar.

We will try to publish as many Reviews as we can but cannot guarantee that all Reviews will be published and we may reject a Review with or without giving reasons for such rejection.

We cannot guarantee how quickly Reviews will be posted on our site. We try to process the Reviews as quickly as we can, but on occasions it can take up to 10 days for them to be published or deemed non-compliant with our Review Policy.

The Review Team verifies all Review Responses before publishing to check they comply with the Content Standards. For the avoidance of doubt, Review Responses must not reveal specific personal information about the reviewer, the resident/service user or a third party (e.g. the person’s diagnosis or treatment) as this may breach data protection legislation (unfair processing of personal or sensitive personal data) and would also be likely to breach the care provider's duty of confidentiality to the reviewer or child/service user. Review Responses must be submitted within 6 months of the submission date of the relevant review. We try to verify all Review Responses within 3 working days but we cannot guarantee this.

Reviews of care providers can only be submitted by parents/individuals responsible for a child who attends the nursery.

Reviews are not accepted from:

  • Members of Staff (even if they have a child at the nursery) or Ex-members of staff (includes staff working within the wider organisation)
  • Anyone with a professional connection to the nursery (e.g. entertainer)
  • Ad-hoc visitors (e.g. attending an open day, Mayor, MP)
  • Potential client/service user and their family/friends
  • Students/Work Experience

People under 16 should get permission from a parent or guardian before posting on our site.

  • Be defamatory or capable of bearing a defamatory meaning (for example specific or generalized allegations of abuse or material negligence) or other serious accusations of criminal actions or other wrongdoing (for example fraud, theft, or other financial misconduct, or, of physical or sexual misconduct in any form) without that setting any limit on the interpretation of the general term defamatory
  • Be obscene, offensive, hateful, threatening, harassing or unlawful
  • Constitute discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or, age or promote such discrimination by others
  • Contain abusive language
  • Disclose the name, address, telephone, mobile or fax number, e-mail address or any other personal data in respect of any individual
  • Contain references to other specific Reviews
  • Stereotype sections of society
  • Contain any reference to the Review Score of the organisation/business being reviewed
  • Name any organisations/businesses other than the organisation/business that is being reviewed
  • Infringe any copyright, database right or trade mark of any other person
  • Breach any legal duty owed to a third party, such as a contractual duty or a duty of confidence
  • Be in contempt of court or breach of a court order
  • Be made in an attempt to blackmail any person
  • Be made with a view to gain for the person submitting the content/comment or for another, or with the intent to cause loss to another, in exchange for offering to remove a ‘negative’ review or post a ‘positive’ review
  • Impersonate any person, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person
  • Give the impression that the Review emanates from us if this is not the case
  • Advocate, promote, incite any third party to commit, or assist any unlawful or criminal act
  • Contain a statement which you know or believe, or have reasonable grounds for believing, that members of the public to whom the statement is, or is to be, published are likely to understand as a direct or indirect encouragement or other inducement to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism
  • Contain any advertising or promote any services or web links to other sites

We take a neutral stance in factual disputes between care providers and reviewers as there is no reliable way to discern who's right about a particular experience. If a care provider disagrees with the reviewer over the experience, we recommend that the care provider writes a reply to the review telling their version of events so that website users can see both perspectives.
